Advocacy and Communications Manager

Bre Mapston joined the Office of Government and Community Relations team in August of 2018 to provide insight to communicative processes and advocacy practices. She oversees Penn State’s university-wide advocacy efforts and serves as an advisor to the University-Affiliated student organization Lion Caucus.

Bre was part of the Penn State community before joining Government and Community Relations. Previously, she has worked as an instructor in the Communications Arts and Sciences department teaching Public Speaking and Communication Theory courses. She has also completed research surrounding social activism, political advocacy, and digital spaces. She brings an in-depth knowledge of rhetoric, persuasion, and Penn State to work with and for students.

A native of Dallas, Bre earned her Bachelor’s in Communication Studies from the University of North Texas in her home state. She also holds a Master’s in Communication Arts and Sciences from Penn State. Bre currently resides in State College with her partner Patrick and their fur “children,” Rhett and Kendrick.
